Freddy Krueger is described as undead, and he attacks his victims in their personal dreams. He is easily identified by his brown leather, metal-clawed glove, a brown fedora, a dark green and red striped sweater, and his disfigured, burned face. He was ranked as the 14th greatest villain by Wizard magazine.

Krueger is the main antagonist in all the Elm Street films, but was killed in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare. He was brought back to “life” in New Nightmare by Wes Craven. He has also appeared in literary pieces, which adapted his films and changed parts of his backstory. Krueger also hosted a TV show called Freddy’s Nightmares, a show similar in tone to The Twilight Zone.
Freddy Krueger battled another horror icon, Jason Vorhees, in 2003. Vorhees is from the film series “Friday the 13th”. That release was called Freddy vs. Jason, and at the end of that film, it can be argued whether he died or not.
Krueger first appeared in 1984 as Fred Krueger in the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, focusing on his attacks on a girl and her friends, in dreams they shared. In the end, he killed everyone but the original girl. Nancy wins over Krueger by pulling him into the real world from the dream world, and stripping him of his powers.
Freddy Krueger returned to the screen in the original movie’s sequel in 1985, terrorizing a family who moved into Nancy’s old home. He possesses the new homeowner’s body, and uses his spirit to kill. His girlfriend helps him to fight the spirit of Krueger.
Wes Craven brought Krueger another life in 1987, where Krueger is killing off the rest of the children of Elm Street. They live in a psychiatric hospital, since they have attempted suicide. Nancy begins work there as an intern, and realizes that Krueger is killing the children. With a doctor’s help, she helps the rest of the children find their dream-linked powers, so that they will be able to kill Krueger with finality. In the end, Krueger kills Nancy.
Between 1987 and today, Krueger appeared in other Elm Street movies, and he appeared in a remake of the original in 2010, with the new actor taking the lead role. Now his character is portrayed as a gardener at a preschool, and a child molester. Another Elm Street movie is scheduled for release in 2012.
