Freddy’s Dead

A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 – Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare)

Wes Craven actually took a year off between the creation of The Dream Child and Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare), something he had not done until this point.

Freddy’s Dead, The Final Nightmare, it can’t be! To get your very own piece of Freddy whether it’s the Films or the glove, sweater or the man himself click Freddy Krueger!

This sixth film in the slasher series brings cameo appearances of Johnny Depp, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Tom Arnold and Rosanne Bar, making the film even more desirable.

Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare) picks up 10 years later after the events in The Dream Child.  Alice and her son Jacob moved out of Springwood but Freddy Krueger returned and killed almost all the children in the town.

John Doe is the only teenager who has survived because he ran out of the city limits which serves as a barrier to contain Krueger inside.  However, when he jumped through this barrier, he hit his head and now doesn’t know who he is, hence the name John Doe.

Meanwhile, there is a youth shelter in Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare) where new characters Tracy, Spenser and Carlos are plotting their escape.  Tracy is a victim of sexual abuse, Spenser is a drug addict and Carlos had a hearing disability from his parents physically abusing him.  After John Doe is picked up, the police bring him to the shelter as well.

Dr. Maggie Burroughs finds a peculiar newspaper clipping in his pocket so she decides to take him to Springwood to try to jog his memory.  Carlos, Spencer and Tracy are hidden in the shelter’s van to escape but due to the van almost being wrecked when John has a hallucination, they are discovered.

Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare) really starts to get good now!  Carols, Spencer and Tracy hide in an abandoned house that mysteriously transforms into the original Elm Street house.  Across town, John and Maggie have gone to the Springwood orphanage where they discover that Krueger had a child and John thinks that is who he may be since he isn’t killing him.

Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare)switches back to the Elm Street house where Spencer and Carlos have fallen asleep and become Krueger’s newest victims.  Maggie wakes up Tracy in time but now John is still asleep.  Maggie and Tracy don’t want to wake him so they take him back to the shelter.  John is killed by Krueger but not before he wakes up and says that his child is a girl.  Maggie soon realizes that she is actually Krueger’s daughter.

Maggie decides she has to be the one to get into Krueger’s mind so that she can pull him out of the dream world and into the real one.  When she enters the dreamworld in Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare) she puts on 3-D glasses and gets inside his mind.

She discovers that Krueger had a really rough life.  His foster father abused him, children teased him and as a teenager, he inflicted self-abuse.  She also discovers that he murdered his wife.  With struggle, Maggie pulls him to the real world.

Krueger and Maggie fight and she disarms his famous clawed glove, stabbing him in the stomach.  After she throws a pipe bomb at his chest that Tracy throws to her, she tells him Happy Father’s Day and runs.  Freddy’s Dead (The Final Nightmare) ends with Krueger exploding and Maggie saying, Freddy’s Dead!
