Wes Craven’s New Nightmare
A Nightmare On Elm Street 7 – Wes Craven’s New Nightmare
Although Wes Craven’s (New Nightmare) is the seventh film in the Elm Street series, it does not follow the same pattern. Now, Freddy Krueger is portrayed as a movie villain who is haunting the crew members who were responsible for creating his films.

His appearance is updated and he is a lot more menacing which is how he was intended to be in the first place.
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare begins on the set, filming a movie. The camera focuses in on a much sleeker glove and the individual playing Krueger’s character acts like he is cutting of his wrist so he can attach it. Director, Wes Craven orders more blood to be pumped and then he cuts and says to print the scene. Heather and her husband Chase along with Dylan their son are the checking out the Nightmare On Elm Street movie set.
Suddenly in Wes Craven’s (New Nightmare), this prop with the claws comes to life and starts killing the crew. Right before the claw attacks Chase, Heather wakes up and there just happens to be an earthquake happening. Interestingly, Chase has a few scratches that are the same as what he had in Heather’s dream. She tells her husband that she was getting phone calls from someone she thought sounded like Freddy but that they stopped a couple of weeks ago.
When Heather arrives home that day in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare after being a guest on a talk show, her son says
to her, “Never sleep again!” but it is not in his voice. She calls her husband to come home but he dies in a car crash on his way after falling asleep at the wheel. When she goes to identify his body, she sees claw marks on his chest and knows Krueger was behind it. Her son also begins to act very strange.
She turns to Wes Craven for help but he really has no answers for her. After a short nap, Heather wakes up and finds Dylan is missing out of his room. She runs downstairs to find him in a trance, having another episode so she rushes him to the hospital. Soon, Dylan’s babysitter Julie also arrives at the hospital to tell Heather she’s been having nightmares about him.
The nurses try to sedate Dylan in Wes Craven’s (New Nightmare) but Heather refuses and her and Julie have to fight the nurses off. Heather tries to leave but is confronted by security while in the meantime, Dylan falls asleep and Julie is killed next to him. When Heather tries to find Dylan she sees a gigantic Freddy Krueger hanging him over traffic but the scene changes and she arrives home. Krueger starts manipulating her world, turning her into Nancy from the Elm Street series.
Heather takes some sleeping pills to try to find Dylan in the dreamworld and have a final showdown with Freddy. She finds him but is quickly knocked unconscious by Krueger which leaves Dylan all alone.
Freddy attempts to attack Dylan but Heather regains consciousness and tries to attack him. Krueger extends the length of his tongue and it wraps around her face which is probably the most memorable scene from Wes Craven’s (New Nightmare).
Heather uses a kitchen knife and stabs his tongue and then her and Dylan manage to knock Krueger into the furnace to kill him. When Heather and Dylan run, they find themselves reading a script that Wes Craven had been working on about a glove with claws that moved on its own.
