Revelations

The announcement of Hellraiser Revelations on August 20th, 2010 has sparked many questions.  Directed by Victor Garcia, this will be the ninth installment in the series which began so many years ago back in 1997, based on The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker.  It was immediately confirmed that Doug Bradley would not return to play Pinhead. 

Hell in Mexico, Where Next? For the movies and the Demon himself Visit Pinhead!

Does this mean that this film is doomed before it even has the chance to be something better than the last four films that have gone straight to DVD?  For many people, Doug Bradley is the only thing that kept them coming back for more.  Despite the fact that the gore that the series was known for became nearly nonexistent in the past few films, diehard Pinhead fans stayed true to their villain.

Bradley stated that he had private discussions with those involved on the project but he decided not to participate because it was just too rushed.  He also stated that upon reading the script, he didn’t feel it was a serious attempt to try to revive the fallen Hellraiser franchise.

Stephan Smith Collins will step in as Pinhead in Hellraiser Revelations.  He will be accompanied by Steven Brand, Clyde McKnight, Jay Gillespie, Sebastien Roberts, Sanny Van Heteren, Tracey Fairaway, Devon Sorvari, Daniel Buran, Jolene Anderson, Sue Ann Pien.

Plot

For a while, all that was revealed was that two friends unleash Pinhead after they discover the Lament Configuration in Mexico and one attempts to survive by swapping places with someone else.  Now that the movie is in post-production mode, a little more has been revealed.

It is confirmed that previous speculation was correct, Hellraiser Revelations does take place in Mexico.  Two teenage boys have run away or are missing and there is a dinner party being held by one of the families.  Mysterious video footage as well as some items are found at the location they were last seen but no one has heard from them for over one year.  There is  plenty of tension at the dinner party and it is filled with strange revelations.

One of the missing boys shows up at the dinner party, causing Hellraiser Revelations to take a bizarre turn.  He is bloodied, beaten, terrified and absolutely exhausted.  His evil truths reveal a journey he has taken in the terrifying world, home to Pinhead and the Cenobites.

Hellraiser Revelations will be released in 2011 as Direct-to-DVD.
